Monthly Garden Photos - Feb - April

I am still somewhat embarrassed by some of my yard photos...compared to 99% of you, whose gardens are mind blowing. But hey..it is what it is.....and I am a low budget garden that is struggling in this economy...so take what you can get people! If I had the money to spend on my garden, it would look amazing!
Here are a few shots from February - April. I don't have photos of all the beds, I will get around to that.
So let's begin shall we
February. I removed that hideous shrub on the corner...ugh! I planted an African Daisy there instead. If you notice in the curb...there is an ant bed. These ants are totally resistant to any type of poison...or gas. They are indestructive. Matter of fact that entire bed on the side of the house is mainly an ant bed. I know it is hard to believe...but it us. It is just red sand. I have been adding in compost to enrich the soil, and add ant killer just about every other day! April (don't mind the black stuff...its coffee grounds and soil...I turned it in the soil AFTER I took the photo...;))
February
March
April February
March (notice where the bunny is....) April. (Scooter was laid to rest under that bunny) . I had a lot of stuff in this bed that didn't come back. One of them being Mona Lavender...oh the aggrivation! I do have 2 Jacobean plants in this bed that are just now coming up. I need to plant a climbing rose on that trellis and let it cover the fence.
February March
April ( I somehow managed to miss the clematis in bloom in both shots!!!) February
March
April FebruaryMarch April. This bed it fairly difficult to plant it due to all the tree roots...but I do the best I can.
I will get some photos of the front yard this afternoon. I have a project for ya'll to help me out on
So that's that! Not much to look at...but I like it, and that's all that counts right!

Hey DP it is looking good. I can't believe the change and all the work you've done that really shows in the pictures from month to month. What a difference. I mentioned doing a post on when we first bought our place and what it looked like - it was deplorable. Think I will someday.
I know what you mean about the tree roots. I've been struggling with that for years. I think maybe raising the bed is probably the best route but like you said gardening on a budget really makes some decisions for ya. I have one I want to raise and someday I will!

It's looking good, the only way around the tree roots is a raised bed I have tried other ways but nothing can survive those roots. (Pesky roots). I have been nagging my hubby to build one for me.

It looks great. I love this time of year. There's so much potential before the real heat hits. I've started to do more container gardening in tough-to-plant areas. The benefit is that if the plant is unhappy, you can move it's container.
I love the art on the potting shed and I see you have some great trees. Make sure to stop long enough to enjoy :)

I love seeing these kind of pictures where you can really see the changes. Your gardens look great! You should be proud of them! The area where the clematis is has really filled in!

Hello Dirt Princess, I've enjoyed visiting your garden. You've done lots over these months! I love the pictures where the sunlight is dappled through the leaves.

I like seeing the progression of the beds. Everything is coming along great.

I love what you've done with the bed by the shed!

It's always a work in progress, no matter where you are with your garden! Don't fret over it...

I think your yard is great! I also commend you for being brave enough to show the real garden. I don't ever show the real yard, just how the beds I like look.I think lots of people do that. Or else they have staff. Maybe I should toughen up and take a risk. I love your yard art! I think yard art is the way to show your personality in the landscape.

Your yard looks great! It gives me hope for mine... you've seen my rotting raised beds!

Your month by month comparisons are great. I haven't ever done that ~ I usually don't take photos in the garden when it's not the growing season. I can see there's a good reason to do it now.

NOTHING to be ashamed of here! It's all filling in nicely...........

RG - Yes, right now raised beds are out of the question. Hopefully that will change soon.

Outside In - I need to make a raised bed on the area besides the fence...I need to add that to my to do list

Vonnie - I do love my trees, they are all pretty old. When we first moved in I thought they would be a pain with leaves falling, but it is actually good. I just blow them into the flower beds!

Catherine - the photos really help you put it uin perspective. You may not feel that alot has happened, then you look back at the photos and see the change.

Kara - Thanks

Phoenix - I liked those pictures as well

Susie- It will be neat to have an entire years worth of photos to compare. See the growth

Ginger - Thanks

Islandgardener - I have determined that gardening is like your body...no matter what we are never happy. My 80 yr old garden buddy said it best...she has been gardening for 50 yrs at the same place, and she said she still is done with her yard. It is never done, ever changing.

Heather - I really appreciate your comment. It is REAL. Thanks :)

Prarie Chicken - Thanks, you are getting there! You have lots going on. Maybe Bilbo can help you with your beds when he arrives!

Kathleen - You should definitely photograph your beds from month to month...see the changes

Darla - Thanks...its just that my garden is only 2-3 years old, and I am a low budget gardener...LOL!! I have probably not even spent $300 in my garden. Given all that I have I think that is a big accomplishment

I love your before and after shots, three months in a row. Great. Wish I'd thought of it.
I think your garden is looking great. Those ants sound nasty!
