Crenshaw Daylily Farm

LET THE SUN SHINE!!!! I am so happy to see some sun rays outside! It has been so ugly, foggy, gloomy, dreary, cold, damp and BLAH here for the past week. Today it is GORGEOUS outside. I really want to be outside gettin' some sun on these white legs....but that will have to wait *sigh*.

Friday I had a fun day with the Dirt Queen (aka my mom ) and the Hydrangea Queen. We ventured across the bay (aka the county next ours) to Crenshaw Daylily Farm. I have heard of this place for a while,  but I had not been. The first weekend of every month they have a yardsale in their barn. People come in and sale whatever they want. Of course they sale daylilies too.....oh and horses!!!!

The daylilies aren't blooming yet. I will have to go back when they are in bloom.

Ya'll can see it was an ugly, blah day!

This barn had a lot of stuff in it. Some stuff I liked, some not so much.

There were several chandeliers and pendant lights for sale

sewing machine

odds and ends

a snazzy metal sunflower!

this stove that I would loooove to have

except it was sold. Not sure what I would do with it, but I like it ;-)

any idea what this next picture is?????

a TELEVISION!!!! Apparently one of the first ones made! It was pretty cool looking. I like that snazzy gold banding around it.

these little knobs were cute

shame on me for what I am about to say -

I have lived in Alabama my whole life and I knew we had a few covered bridges.....but not enough to write a whole book on. I should have bought this book. It had stories, drawings, photographs, etc. Very cool. Next time I go back I think I will have to buy this.

After we left the barn, we went over to the owners house to see her gardens and horses

I am a sucker for an OLD live oak...and she had a nice one in her front yard.

a few white camellias for ya'll. Some of them had a drop of red on them.

and one more shot of that tree :-)

See ya'll later

Cruisin'

I managed to scrounge up some pictures from the cruise. I know this is going to come as a shock....but I didn't take a lot of pictures. I was gloomy and cloudy, and I just wasn't feeling it!

We had big plans of playing mini putt putt golf, but that doesn't work real well in 15 foot seas.

We were still in dock when I took this picture. It was one of the few times the pool actually had water in it!! They had it drained most of the time due to the waves

The inside atrium of the boat was preally pretty.

The elevator in the atrium

We had this cake in our cabin when we arrived. It was DELISH!!! It was way more than two people could eat. So we each had a slice, and stuck it outside for room service to pick up. Our dinner steward told us the average person gains 2-3 pounds a day on a cruise. We didn't want to be a statistic, so we gave up our cake and took the stairs the entire time.

This was one of the lounges, Jekyll and Hyde. I thought it was pretty interesting.

My cousin, posing with one of the many towel creations.

The harbor in Cozumel when we arrived early that morning

Looking back at our boat as we made our way to Cozumel. I am ashamed to say that those are only 2 of about 10 pictures I took in Cozumel. I kinda had my hands full........

....with dishes. I didn't want any magnets, keychains, or tshirts. I wanted talavera dishes, and thats what I bought for myself. I absolutely loved them.

They are all different patterns, but similar. I can't wait to have dinner on these babies.

If I had planned ahead...I would have taken one of those rolling cart thingies, rolled that baby off the ship an filled it up with all sorts of talavera dishes. But I didn't. I had all I could handle in one bag.

I bought the Dirt Queen this platter (I thought we could share it ;-))

And of course, no trip to Mexico is complete unless you bring back some of this.....

Vanilla!!! I brought back vanilla for everyone. That was what all of my friends & family requested.

So that was the cruise! Exciting huh???? The dishes are the most fabulous part ;-)

40 Years of Magic!

My parents recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, and we had them a small little get together to celebrate. I dug out some old photos to share with all of our guests, and I thought I would share them with ya'll also.

This was before they were married. They were going to some dance at their college.

This was at my grandma's house, and it was probably my Dad's birthday

This picture makes me laugh because my Mom looks cold....but yet she has on a mini skirt! Even worse....look at my Dad's pants!!! A little short huh!

I loved my Mom's wedding dress. It was beautiful.

My Dad's pants appear to be longer here.

Mom and my Paw Paw

This picture just makes me laugh out loud...literally! You see, both of those women are my aunts. How in the world either of them got their hair to do that is beyond me. My aunt on the right has CURLY CURLY hair...and so that is really straight for her.

I love this pictured

This is after they were married.

This was right after my brother was born....you can't tell but my Mom is holding him.

And here I am!

I set up a table on the back porch with some of those photos and more. It rained the day of the party for the first time in weeks! Go figure, as soon as you have an outdoor party planned, it rains!

I regret not taking more pictures, but I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off!

We fried fish and drank sangria!

I made arrangements for each table that had love quotes tied to them.

My brother and his wife entertained us

My Dad surprised my Mom with a ruby ring for their anniversary. I stuck it in a cupcake for him to give to her. By the way, the cupcakes were really cute....but I didn't get any pics.

I am over this heat. The dog days of summer and getting to me. I am ready for some cooler weather! We have been getting showers here almost everyday. After it rains it is like a sauna!
