Relaxing Weekend

I had a pretty relaxing weekend. The Hunter was gone fishing all weekend, so I just hung out with friends and family. Friday I went down to Gulf Shores to see my best friend. We went out on the boat and had a great time.
A little plane flying around This is the pass at Orange Beach
A nice condo right by the pass
A blimp over the pass
We went into the Orange Beach Marina and saw some FINE boats!
Expensive boats!
I couldn't imagine owning a boat like this! I would never go home!
Nice huh?
Orange Beach Marina is full of nice boats. This is the little Dock Store at the Marina, you can buy gas, get ice, etc.
There are houses all along the canals in Orange Beach. Most of them are vacation homes. Clearly someone lives in this one....they had a great yard. It was hard to photograph since I was in a boat
We drove the boat to Pensacola, and came back through the Intracoastal Canal. There are some great sand bars along the way. Boats pull up to them and park and hang out for the day. We must have seen 100+ boats. I liked this one! Bama Girl Too!
A nice sailboat. You can rent these for the day/night
Now this is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!! This boat was HUGE! The boat next to it was about 22ft long!
You can see the sand bars and all the people hanging out
Very nice
Here we are hanging out on the sand bar (I am in the yellow/green bathing suit)
We had such a great time. There were a good nit of people out and about Friday, but I know Saturday it was probably jam packed
On another note.....this is this weeks forecast for my area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO HOO!!!! It is raining as I type this!!! I don't know why the picture turned black when I saved it....but who cares.....you get the point! After 40 days of no rain...IT IS RAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice pics DP. Made me feel cooler just looking at them - hope you got cooled down a bit too with all of the heat you have been having. It's even been miserable hot here where I had to stay in all day. I did get some housework done though - hmmm funny how that works. I think I'd rather go out in the sun and have a heat stroke! LOL

April I too am so happy to see it raining. You found a good way to spend part of your long weekend. The beaches are looking nice and the water pretty clear. Glad you had a good time.

It looks like you had a great time DP. I can almost feel being there. Glad you are getting some rain. We've had so much, the ground is soggy. Everything is growing like weeds. Right now it is 91 and feels like it's 97. For the next couple of days it is supposed to feel like it's 105. YIKES!

Have a great week ~ FlowerLady

DP you guys had a great time at the beach! Love those boats, or should I say ships, for some of them! lol

Glad you are finally getting rain. We got up this a.m. and had a rain in the night. Forecast was for 80% chance today. Unfortunately not one drop has fallen. I hope you enjoy yours!!!

Hi DP, Glad you are finally getting some rain!!!! We got about 2 inches yesterday. And--it's nice and cool here today. BUT--they say it will get hot again this next weekend. Yuk!!!!

Looks like you had a wonderful time out on the boat. Yes--some of those yachts are gorgeous. I could live on one of those things, couldn't you???? Of course, some people do!!!! Guess it would get old, but I'd be willing to try IF someone gave me a big yacht!!!! ha

Hope your garden will perk back up now!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. Did the hunter catch some good fish???

Oh those photos are so awsome! What I wouldn't give to be that near the beach. You lucky girl.

Would you believe I use to live on a boat like that? I lived in New Haven, Ct. on the sound. We had our own little community at a yacht club. About 12 other people lived on their boats there, too. It was a Jimmy Buffet kinda life everyday! It never got old. That was pre-kids of course, but some great memories.

And that's looks like some kinda sunburn ya got there... yikes.

Now Go dance in the rain! Who knows when we'll get more.

It's really pretty there. I like seeing beaches from other places and the houses and boats. It has a whole different look from the beaches here.
Glad you're getting rain. I bet your garden will go crazy! We just have lots of wind right now, but at least it cooled down enough not to have to water again.

We saw that same plane flying over the water. He was doing tricks when I saw him. And you guessed right, Saturday's crowds were enormous!

Dirt Princess said...

Derek that is so funny!!!!I wanted to ride on it!!! I bet there were a million people there Saturday! You probably couldn't get through the pass with all those boats!

How fun! I love to be near water, I just don't want to be in it. Or at least not when I can't see my feet. I strongly dislike fish. Crazy I know. Looks like you had a ball~

Water makes all the difference, doesn't it?!

Went through that area several years ago with my kiddos and stayed at Perdido Key Beach in Florida. It's not too far over the bridge at Orange Beach if I remember correctly. It's so pretty in that area. 40 days and no rain! You must've done a happy dance when rain finally came!
