Back to Reality

I am FINALLY back. What a wonderful, relaxing week it was! I was happy to be back home, but not happy to be back at work...the beach was much more fun!!! We had a great time, but I was ready to get home to see The Hunter and Kiki. The Hunter however wasn't ready for me to come home! We came back a day early, yeh I know...who comes home from the beach early! Well there is only so much fun in the sun a person can take! I came back Friday instead of Saturday. I wanted to relax Saturday and Sunday. I called The Hunter to let him know I was leaving the beach (which is an hour away), and he told me I couldn't come home yet! What???? He said he was doing something and I needed to go somewhere until he called me, and not to ride by our house, or come into the neighborhood. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....So I went to my moms and sat there for about 2 hours. Finally he called, and said I could come on home..... He mulched the entire front yard!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have been following my blog you know that The Hunter HATES that I use leaves and pine straw as mulch....HATES IT!!! But it is FR$$! I do agree that mulch looks so much better. To see my entire yard done, really made me see it.
He said it took him days! He started off with 20 + bags, and quickly ran out. He went to Wal-Mart to get some more and soon discovered it was a different colors, and was moldy! So he had to go return those bags, and go back to Home Depot where he got the first batch. In all it took around 60 bags....God Love him!!!!!!!!! But man does it look good! It made my year......really! My house was clean, all the clothes were washed and put away, no dishes were in the sink, and the flower beds were mulched! Maybe I should go away more often!!! LOL!
While The Hunter was mulching, and cleaning......I was....doing nothing......ahhhhh how good it felt.......so here is the "short" version of my trip.
We stayed WAAAAYYYY down Fort Morgan Road (more on that later in the week). Fort Morgan is at the opening of Mobile Bay. You have the bay side and the beach side. The house we stayed was right smack in the middle of both. The beach was right on the back door, and the bay was out the front door.
It was an all girls trip to the beach. Myself, my mom, my aunts (Mary, Sadie and Dianne), my cousins Ashley and Sommer and cousin in law Jennifer. Ashley, Mary & Jennifer are from Tennessee so it was great to see them.
Here is the house from the bay side (the blue house) and here is is from the beach side (its still the blue house)
We took walks on the bayside.....
found some hermit crabs....big hermit crabs......
we floated in the ocean (this is my aunt pictured).......
we watched a Killdeer sit on her nest (her eggs are to the left, they look like rocks. For me info on killdeer see the bottom of the post) in the BAKING HOT sun....
we watched the sun set (this in on the bay side)
we saw interesting structures washed up on the bay side.....
watched the sun set some more.............
saw some alligator tracks............
watched the sun set.............
took some pictures ......... (L to R - Mary, Dianne, Mom, Sadie. Front row Ashley, Me, Sommer, Jennifer)
made smores.......... (DP & Jennifer)
walked on the beach in the mornings...........
looked for ghost crabs............
worked on getting rid of tan lines....
Ashley (left), Jennifer (Top), Sommer (Right), Dirt Princess (bottom)
took some more pictures...........
visited the famous Souvenir City shark..... Saw a few octopuses......... Met some pirates.......... got caught on their anchor.............saw a marlin jumping from the sea.....ok well it was a fountain...
my beautiful cousin Sommer and Me
We had such an amazing time! I have lots more photos to share with ya'll throughout the week!
I did attempt to work out in the yard some on Sunday....I fertilized, weeded, and a few other things. MAN was it hot!!!!!!! It said it was 93 degrees, but it felt like 110!!!! I kept spraying myself down with the water hose!! The weeds were a complete disgrace, ya'll were right...they were there when I got back.....times 10!! The Hunter told me, " I probably covered up half of your flowers because I didn't know what was weeds and what wasn't". That's bad when your weeds are so big your husband mistakes them for flowers!!!!!!!!
The Killdeer was very interesting. Google a Killdeer for more info. Amazing little birds. I couldn't see how she sat in that blazing hot sun ALL DAY, and her brain didn't fry! It was unbearably hot on that sand. She never left...just sat there all day. Surely she needed some water. God equipped them well I suppose....I couldn't sit on the beach for 30 minutes without having to get in the water! I know she had to have been hot. It was so hot I really didn't see why she needed to sit on those eggs....the sun was hot enough!
I have lots of posts coming up about my trip for this week. We will visit Fort Morgan, watch some more sunsets, catch some crabs, and have lunch at Lulu's.
I am glad to be back, and will try to catch up. I will be coming around to visit ya'll soon.

I know you are not happy to be back at work but I am glad you are back. Looks like you had a fabulous time. You picked up a lot of sky photos, sunsets, etc and I love them. I just love the sunset over the gulf.

The Hunter was so nice to surprise you like that. Sixty bags of mulch is a lot. Just shows how many gardens you have in the yard.

How lucky you are to live so close to the beach...and how lucky you are to have a husband who would do a nice things like that.
60 bags!!!!! Oh my aching back!
You have been in one of my all time favorite places in the world. Welcome home!

Victoria was that not awesome! He does good. It maked me happy....shows that he cares :)...not that I doubt it or anything. I did get a bit close to the killdeer and she went off into her "my wing is broke" deal...pretty funny...well not funny...I felt sorry for her that she thought I was going to hurt her :(

Becca can you believe that! Whew!!! Lots of mulch. He tried to buy it by the truck load, but the local place we get it from was closed.

Jean I am lucky to live so close to the beach. We can go whenever we please. We go a lot on the weekends during the summer.

Betsy it melts my heart when he does stuff like that. I did have the best of both worlds, the bay and the beach. I failed to mention who all was on the beach trip...sorry. It was me, my mom, my mothers sisters (Mary, Dianne, & Sadie), my cousins Sommer, and Ashley and my cousing in law Jennifer. Mary, Ahsley and Jennifer are from Tennessee and we don't get to see them but a few times a year. I did put in for you give away!!! Hope I win!!!!!!!!

Yes, mulching is a job that takes waaaaay longer than it looks - even by my standards!

I love your holiday pictures, they really emanate good fun. My favourite is the feet - brilliant, if it were mine I'd definitely have that on my wall!

Sorry I am so late to comment, but I wanted to say that I am glad you had a great time. You are such a pretty girl, and the whole gang just looked great. How wonderful is it that you have a great husband too? My Hub did the same thing with patio stones, back and forth a million times to Lowes, and he is pushing sixty. It's always nice to get home isn't it? I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful photos. You keep right on inspiring me....
