What's Going On

There is a little bit going on in the garden... New growth on the hydrangeas, and some of the daffodils popping up Kiki being lazy as usual...watching what goes on in the garden.
New growth on the roses
Glad to see the cold didn't hurt them to much.
The walking iris however didn't fare so well. Maybe it will pull through.
Woodland phlox
I love the see the foliage change colors on the Nandina.
Hydrangea
Butterfly Bush
I filled up the bird feeders. Hopefully I can get some good bird photos soon!

Hydrangea
I found this on the hydrangea...apparently the wasps made themselves at home!
Hydrangea
Clematis
Not much gong on in the garden. I desperately need to weed! Whew! That will take a whole day. I really need to cut back the dead plants as well. Hopefully I can get around to that soon. I only have 2 more weekend left of hunting season, so that is where I will be! Come February it is time to get down to business, and get in the dirt!

Wow, looks like you are a bit ahead of us here in GA. You had me laughing with you on the frozen trees! In TN we had ice but not here in GA but I consider this the Deep South and not just the South. lol...

Kiki has the right idea about chilly days, I would like to hibernate until spring and pretty much have been until the past few days. I have company coming so no more being lazy for me :)

Your post "Where memories are made" was so heartfelt. It had me going way back to my childhood and to this day, I too enjoy hearing the sound of crickets, frog and other chirpers at night. I sleep with the windows open when I can so I can hear the night sounds. Such a wonderful post ( I can so relate to it) and great tribute to your Grandparents....

I plan to mosey around today and see what I can find new and exciting in the gardens. I have waited a bit longer this year, so far, with cutting back my dead foliage..Your rose looks pruned, is it? A big part of my Walking Iris got bit too, last year it was slightly bitten and did well. I love your bird feeder, did you make it? Kiki has the most adorable blue eyes! Enjoy your last two weekends of hunting, then I expect to see you in the gardens!

It always puts a song in a gardeners heart and a spring in our step when we see that plant pushing forth from a barren earth. I feel joy as I look at your pics! Even though we were 20 degrees above norm yesterday the ground is still frozen about an inch down. I tried to play in the mud yesterday. Heeeheehe! What can I say, I've got it bad!

Have a super day!

Skeeter I would say we are in the Deep South! Kiki is lazy 20 hours a day! I am so glad you enjoyed my post about my childhood. I think a lot of us can relate to it in someway.

Stephen thank you...and I am working on it!

Darla I need to cut back the dead bushes. It won't take long...I just need to do it! The roses are pruned. They get huge if I don't trim them. I got the bird feeder last year, and apparently had it in a bad spot. I bought it at Big Lots.

Nezzy it is going to be in the 70s here today and then cool back off on the weekend! I will take plenty of warm sunny photos for you!

It's so nice to see the new growth. I found some new growth on my hydrangeas. There are lots of buds on peach tree and pear tree and the blueberry bush.

I'd say you have quite a bit going on in your yard. My hydrangeas are at about the same point, but your Clematis is definitely ahead.

I just luv all those new little buds. Kiki seems to be taking his/her "garden watching" responsibility quite seriously. Cute cat.

I cannot believe how far ahead of me you are --- I hardly have any signs of life!

BTW the ice tree post was hilarious. Never heard of that before!

I had no idea where Satsuma AL is so I just googled it. You are far down in AL! I have a sister that lives in Navarre, FL so I imagine your growing conditions are similar. I enjoyed seeing all your pics...there's even LESS going on in the garden here at the TN/AL line. Once those daffodils are up that high...there's no stopping spring! I feel your pain about weeding..why do those things grow fresh and green when out other plants don't even feel like peeking out yet??

Your garden is certainly waking up!
I love your photographs!I did some weeding today, shotweed is already blooming.

Your hydrangeas are miles ahead of mine. There is absolutely no sign of life anywhere! I'm really worried now. Your camera is just awesome. You must really love using it! I plan to take a survey of my yard this afternoon to see what's going on. About the only things hanging in there are the pansies. My sweet peas are growing, but most of the seedlings didn't make it. So I'm off to get more seeds today!

I love the photos you took of the ice on the trees. I seriously need to upgrade my Kodak Advantix c650 to a digital...

Nothing is going on in my garden here in Michigan the ground is still frozen solid..and everything is brown. It is a depressing long wait for us northerner's until spring!

I'm so glad that their are bloger's such as yourself and others to cheer me up until spring arrives!
