Crenshaw Daylily Farm

LET THE SUN SHINE!!!! I am so happy to see some sun rays outside! It has been so ugly, foggy, gloomy, dreary, cold, damp and BLAH here for the past week. Today it is GORGEOUS outside. I really want to be outside gettin' some sun on these white legs....but that will have to wait *sigh*.

Friday I had a fun day with the Dirt Queen (aka my mom ) and the Hydrangea Queen. We ventured across the bay (aka the county next ours) to Crenshaw Daylily Farm. I have heard of this place for a while,  but I had not been. The first weekend of every month they have a yardsale in their barn. People come in and sale whatever they want. Of course they sale daylilies too.....oh and horses!!!!

The daylilies aren't blooming yet. I will have to go back when they are in bloom.

Ya'll can see it was an ugly, blah day!

This barn had a lot of stuff in it. Some stuff I liked, some not so much.

There were several chandeliers and pendant lights for sale

sewing machine

odds and ends

a snazzy metal sunflower!

this stove that I would loooove to have

except it was sold. Not sure what I would do with it, but I like it ;-)

any idea what this next picture is?????

a TELEVISION!!!! Apparently one of the first ones made! It was pretty cool looking. I like that snazzy gold banding around it.

these little knobs were cute

shame on me for what I am about to say -

I have lived in Alabama my whole life and I knew we had a few covered bridges.....but not enough to write a whole book on. I should have bought this book. It had stories, drawings, photographs, etc. Very cool. Next time I go back I think I will have to buy this.

After we left the barn, we went over to the owners house to see her gardens and horses

I am a sucker for an OLD live oak...and she had a nice one in her front yard.

a few white camellias for ya'll. Some of them had a drop of red on them.

and one more shot of that tree :-)

See ya'll later

Fertilizer Friday Feb 24, 2012

TGIF!!! Today I am linking up with my old friend Tootsie...well she's not old....ya'll know what I mean!!! I am joining her for Fertilizer Friday!

I bought an old chest of drawers at an antique store last week and had to go pick it up. I enlisted the Hydrangea Queen to help me do this.

When we were headed back home, I was driving and blabbering about something and she yells, "BULBS!!!".  So I turn around and go back up the road and see this.....

It was an old lot where an house used to be and it was covered in daffodils!!

Ofcourse we didn't have a shovel in the truck...but we did find some sticks we used to dig a few bulbs up!

There were also a few snowdrops

I think these are called Butter and Eggs??? Not real sure.
Needless to say we plan on going back and getting more ;-)

What's Poppin'

Where does the time go!?!?!?!
I have been busy working on another blog venture which I can't wait to share with ya'll.

I took these photos a few weeks ago while I was hunting. I was walking down the road and saw them. I thought they were precious :-)

I have been contemplating a design blog for a while, and I finally made the executive decision to just do it! I will keep my gardening blog, and hopefully be blogging more regularly on here.

Over at my new blog, I will still be the Dirt Princess.....only dirt has a different meaning!
Since it will be a design blog, dirt stands for design-invent-repurpose-thrift. I will offer online design services, and blog about all things design, awesome thrifty finds, great re-purposing projects, etc. I will also have a Facebook and Pinterest page for the dirt site. I would like for people to "like" me on Facebook, and tag me in their design projects no matter how big or small, and then I will showcase them on the design blog.

The new site is not up yet, and I will be sure to let ya'll know when it is up. I want you to check it out and let me know what you think.

I have just been torn on doing all this on one blog, I want to keep my gardening life separate from my design life :-) . Too much to have on one blog if you ask me. I also thought my garden followers would appreciate that.

Here is a sample of what my header and logo will look like for the design blog. What do ya'll think?

How the Queen Decks the Halls

I know Christmas is over, but I wanted to share the Dirt Queen's (my mom) Christmas decor with ya'll. I meant to do this before Christmas, but never got around to it.

My life size nutcracker greets visitors as they enter the foyer. Hopefully next Christmas my nutcracker and I will have a new home.

She even decorates the top of the cabinets......

Well thats my quickie for today. I've been working on several little projects, re-doing bathrooms, creating a boys room, a designing a new house....hopefully I will share those with ya'll soon.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. I know I did. This was the best yet for me and I know it is only going to get better.

Please sign my guest book :)
