I tried to root some of the first plant last year from one growing downtown no luck...and I have the same birdbath!!! Great post.
Everything is looking good at your place. I just love the view of the clematis with the bird bath. Happy Gardening...
Those cheap bare root roses are the BEST!
With a little patience it pays off big time!
Darla - It wouldn't root for you? Hmmm...I guess I think everything will root....maybe not! The bird bath is cracked and won't hold water. I need to find something to put in it to hold the water.
Becca- It is coming along
Jesikarena - I bought 4 roses from Big Lots, and 3 made it...but for $12 bucks you can't beat it!!!
You remind me that I should have a Tibouchina (and will put it on my want list). I am also envious of anyone with a Clematis like yours.
Prospero - I have had the tibouchina about a year. They do well for me. They are hardy and come back bigger and better. The clematis was rooted by my mother, it was my grandmothers. This is its 3rd year...thus the reason it is doing so well
Ooh what a beauty - the Princess Flower I mean, although I like the clematis too. It is so exciting when a rose is just like that - I almost want to just stand there until it opens!
EB - I would LOVE to put a time lapse camera on my irises, roses, daylilies, and gerberas! Ok well on all of my plants. That would be so neat
Your clematis must be in the perfect spot. It's so gorgeous and already covered in blooms.
You just gave me a great idea for the other side of my garden which is part shade, I have 2 astilbes, and was going to add some cora bells too. Those princess flowers is beautiful. I think I will look for those flowers at the garden center, thanks for the idea.
Everything looks nice. I always seem to find garbage in my yard as well.
Beautiful flowers Princess!
Hi - just back again to say that my husband is intending to set up a time-laps camera this summer, so if he does, I will certainly post some of the results on my blog.
I have a baby tib and hope she continues to grow and will bloom for me. She's one of my favorite purple flowering plants. I love your clematis.
Happy Gardening ~ FlowerLady
Dirt Princess,
Your flowers are lovely, I especially like the Princess Flower. Is it just my browser or is the text on you blog as black as the background? For the longest time I didn't know you had text with the photos.
Pam - The clematis is right against the house and completely protected from wind/rain. It get morning sun and afternoon sahe.
Outside In - Glad I could be of service ;)
Susie - I am always picking up debris. I think people try to ring my garbage can and miss, or they just don't care
EB - Very exciting! Can't wait to see the videos
Flowerlady - I hope you baby tib does well also
J&R - This is a big mystery to me...the background. It works for some people, but not for others. It takes a while to load for some. My background is actually green and white, and the text is black. Very strange. I don't know what to do about it? Anyone have any ideas? I am sure you are not the only person that has this problem. Someone on Blotanical told me about it. After a test post and a few comments I thought maybe it was just loading slow???? I don't know why it doesn't appear properly???
I believe I started the cutting too late in the season, I usually have great success with rooting. My birdbath is cracked too, how funny is that, anyway, my husband is going to put cement fill in the cracks hopefully that will help it. Will you drop by and see if you know this plant?
How pretty and fresh everything looks. blessings,Kathleen
When you next come to Atlanta, I'll give you a cutting from the Tibouchina grandiflora. It has giant fuzzy leaves, and the flower form is different. Same royal purple, but they come out on stalks, almost like a short delphinium, at the ends of the branches. Bought it quite by mistake, and it's beautiful!
It's part of my "whorish" container this year, with shocking red mini petunias and Marguerite Sweet Potato Vine!
Hi, Great blog you have here! Love your flowers!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
